Mumbai, earlier known as Bombay, is a part of the state of Maharashtra and also
is its capital. Mumbai is made from a cluster of Seven Islands and gets its name
from Mumbadevi, the goddess of the koli fisher folk, oldest inhabitants of Mumbai.
Mumbai is one of the cities in this world who can call themselves cities that never
sleep. It is a city that can't be disciplined by time frame neither day nor night.
Mumbai is also the country's financial capital, Mumbai deals with all the major
business houses and also plays host to the best of the industries. Mumbai is a true
cosmopolitian offering dazzling shopping arcades, exciting sport activity, night
clubs & discotheques, theatre & music, gourmet restaurants and interesting sightseeing.
Mumbai offers visitors a heady mix of all this and more. The harbour and widebay
between the city and its main land has allowed Mumbai to be a natural shipping and
trading centre thus putting something extra in the business profile of the city
of Mumbai.
Mumbai houses one of the most popular and powerful industry in India, the film industry,
popularly known as Bollywood this industry is one of the biggest entertainment industry
in the whole world. With unique spicy food that is available on the beach side and
also offered by the roadside vendors is one of the special attractions of the city.
Although Mumbai might seem as one of the most advanced cities of India still people
of Mumbai are very religious and celebrate almost all the major Indian festivals.
